St. James said: "If you are having trouble, you should pray.  And if you are feeling good, you should sing praises.  If you are sick, ask the church leaders to come and pray for you.  Ask them to put olive oil on you in the name of the Lord.  If you have faith when you pray for sick people, they will get well.  The Lord will heal them and if they have sinned, they will be forgiven."  ~ James 5:13-15 ~ The latter part of the twentieth century has seen a spiritual awakening in much of Christendom, including a recovery of the Christian healing ministry as a normal part of the life of many churches. For many centuries the Christian Church almost ignored Jesus' clear commission to His disciples to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1).  Many persons have assumed that in due time medical science would have the answer to all illness.  Now, a significant number of medical professionals are viewing the Church as having answers which medical science cannot provide.

The Biblical Basis for the Healing Ministry

The Pictou County OSL Chapter belongs to Region 1X which includes the Atlantic Provinces and Quebec.  In 1997, the regional conference was hosted by the local chapter. 2004

Beginning in September 2003, the Pictou County Chapter OSL conducts its healing services at St. George's Anglican Church in New Glasgow! Services are now held on the third Sundays of: September, October, November, February, March and April! The Convenor is Pauline Henaut. The Chaplains are: The Rev. Dr. Donald MacKay, Archdeacon Robert Richmond, and The Rev. Frances Boutilier.
